  • Both Doctors attend regular courses and meetings.

So far in 2010, Dr Milne has undertaken a MIMMS (Major Incident Course) with Prometheus Medical in Hereford and both Doctors attended the excellent Pre-hospital Care and Retrieval Medicine Course in Coventry.

Dr Russell will once again attend the Telford-based Trauma Care course in May.

On Monday 26th April, Dr Milne along with a Welshpool-based Air Ambulance Paramedic, visited the Ambulance Control in Carmarthen. The control for Powys will move from Gwent to Carmathen on Wednesday 5th May; the controllers have had impressive training on the issues relating to Powys, which along with vastly improved mapping  and tracking software, should enable a smooth transition, although with any change there may be a few teething problems. Radio communications have vastly improved due to the introduction of the new Airwave Digital system.

Interestingly, recent audit of the two Doctors' emergency workload has shown that between them, they respond to more incidents than any other BASICS Doctor in Wales. Please remember that this is voluntary and not paid.
